In room 1 with Mr Wiseman we've been learning about rust do you how rust grows, well you can read what I've been learning in Mr Wiseman's room. Mr Wiseman had put questions so that we could answer them.

What 3 ingredients are needed for rust to occur.

Write a brief paragraph explaining the rusting process (why rusting occurs)

The Oxygen from the air will mix with the water, then the nail will react will the oxygen mixed with water. After the iron oxide reacts with water. After that finish it will form a hydrated iron oxide. After all that process it will continue the process until all the iron has been eaten up.

How could you prevent something from rusting?

You can stop the rusting process by covering the metal with paint so that when it rains the rust will only meet with the paint not the metal. The paint helps the metal because paint is a new layer that the rust can only  meet.

Write 3 sentences explaining something new you’ve learned from this reading.

I have learned about rust in this text (fast rust). Rust can be stop by any kind of paint, Why? Because the paint covers the metal and the rust will only relate with the paint not the metal. Rust also has a fancy name called hydrated iron oxide. Rust is a common reaction that usually happens in metal it creates the fall colors and it just keeps on growing.

The BFG Movie

Last term our literacy teacher ( Mr Wiseman ) read us a book called the BFG by Roald Dahl. Yesterday our literacy class and our people from other classes went to go watch the released movie BFG.


The start of the movie was scary at first but funny at the same time. The movie was a lot different than the book and more realistic. Sophie lived in an orphanage her parents died when she was a baby and she missed them a lot, She hated living there so she tried to escape but she would always get caught from the manager. There were giants that were meaner than the BFG and the names were The Fleshlumpeate, The Manhugger , The Meatdripper, The Childchewe, The Butcher Boy,The Maidmasher,The Bonecruncher and the Gizzardgulper. The giants lived in their own country called GIANT COUNTRY.  The BFG hated the other giants he would always get teased and bullied he didn't really like it, How the BFG would get his mind off the giants is by going into his flash cave full of dreams and make different dreams for the other kids to dream of.  





The book was really boring at the start but around the middle and end was interesting I never knew their giant country, It also had different parts in the movie to the book like when they said they were going to dropped the mean giant into a giant hole but in the movie they dropped in the sea the giant also hated water so they swam onto an island of nowhere...... I'm not going to spoil everything read the book or movie I rather say the movie than the book.


I have a favorite character guess who it is I'll give you a clue it starts with the letter B ok it's name is the BFG ( Big Friendly Giant ) I only have one reason he's my favorite one: He's like a ninja because in the start of the movie he could blend and camouflage into anything it's amazing WATCH THE MOVIE.

Show not Tell

Malo, In room 1 with Mr Wiseman ,Mrs Nua came and talked about Show not Tell, Our topic is Cross Country day, I had wrote a paragraph showing not telling after the race. Oh and please comment if I have any mistakes Thank you.

Show not Tell paragraph 

Once I flashed past Miss Berry like a cheetah my heart was pounding like the beat of a drum. As I approached to the finish line I could hear the roar of the crowds, Once I passed the finish line I felt like I was going fall in a pile of humongous clouds of pins. I needed a glass of water so  I grabbed the cup with all my might and drank it, It dripped on my shirt like ice that melts into my hot steaming shirt.

Kiwi kids News

Kiwi kids news is all about interesting things like the new ship there building and it's even bigger than the first ever built ship called the Titanic. Veronica's Velvet

When Veronica was a little girl her mum made her a cushion it was a special cushion it had 2 velvet colors on it.  Veronica's mum even sewed it with a gold string and a heart in the middle. Veronica loved it so much and the little bits she had lifted over veronica put it into a box so she could use it later for anything she would want to sew later.  

Trapped

 Trapped is a story of 2 kids there names were Erika and Toby were playing in the sand Toby saw a sand tunnel and thought to himself and said there might be a treasure down there. So Toby went and started digging.  Erika saw him digging and ask "Why are you digging"
"I'm digging for treasure" Toby replied Erika didn't mind so she started digging to. The tunnel slowly falling back into a hole. Ok that all I'm telling you you'll find out once you read the book.

Identity

This photo shows about my Identity. Me and my Family come from a village in Tonga called Vavau and Hapai. I love playing sport that is my Identity. I am proud to be a sport council at Pt England school. Half of myself is creative, always love my family, brave, calm and always humble. The other half of myself is always confused, happy, frustrated and always a not an confident person.

Reflection

One of the things that I really liked about 2015 was getting to know the year 8’s better and having a great year with them.  The year 8’s showed me to be more confident because I was so shy then.  Now the year 8’s are gone they past the role to us.  As the year went past I was a year 8 in 2016 the two goals for this year was to play more sports and learn more skills and to become a good leader and being more confidence about speaking in front of team 5. Once I leave Pt England school I will hand the role to the year 7’s for 2017.
